What is Caliente WDG Herbicide?
Caliente WDG is an innovative and highly effective broadleaf and grassy weed post-emergent herbicide. Caliente provides excellent turfgrass safety and contains the power of Octane® herbicide technology, resulting in faster kill of a wide range of broadleaf weeds. The fast action and broad-spectrum activity of Caliente will provide higher customer satisfaction and reduced customer callbacks.
How does Caliente WDG Herbicide work?
Caliente contains two active ingredients: metsulfuron-methyl andpyraflufen-ethyl. Metsulfuron-methyl is a systemic herbicide that blocks the production of essential amino acids in plants. Pyraflufen-ethyl is a contact herbicide that inhibits the enzyme protoporphyrinogen oxidase, which is involved in the production of chlorophyll. The dual mode of action of Caliente provides a quick burn down of susceptible weeds in as little as 24 to 48 hours, combined with systemic activity to provide long-term control of targeted weeds.
Where can Caliente WDG Herbicide be applied?

How to apply Caliente WDG Herbicide
Caliente may be applied using a boom-type sprayer or a hand-held or backpack type sprayer. Proper spray volume and uniform coverage are important to maximize efficacy of Caliente. Uniform sprays need to be applied at 20 to 100 gallons/acre (0.5 to 2.5 gallons per 1,000 ft2). Higher spray volumes may be used to target high weed populations and/or weeds contained in dense turfgrass canopies.
The addition of surfactants (spreaders/stickers) to the spray solution will improve efficacy and contact activity of Caliente. Follow the adjuvant manufacturer’s recommended use rates for specific sites.
Use rates of Caliente WDG Herbicide
Caliente should be applied at rates between 0.25 to 1.0 ounce per acre. Rate should be determined based upon target weed(s) and desirable turfgrass species. Refer to the product label for rate requirements for individual weed species. If necessary, repeat applications can be made 30 days after initial treatment.
